october crafts and activites

because my sis asked why I needed to go to home depot (the last place you'll find me), I told her Id post a pic and show her what else we do around here...

-those mickey mouse paint color cards (from home depot - not lowes!) are for a matching game the kiddies can play.
-I had a game of Little Einstein dominos - but cut them apart and made another matching game.
-we made felt pumpkin face cutouts so they can practice putting the face on properly.
-we attempted glue, yet again, with those spiders...ok so I did it all. they just colored it with chalk.
-and painting the wooden pumpkin cutouts, we only had q-tips as brushes, so that didnt last too long.

hmmm...on to think of what can I do for november?

downtown disney (and a pat on the back for me!)

saturday was unseasonably hot! so we thought we'd get away from the inland heat and head out closer to the shore, thinking it would be cooler...nope, still hot, but we love it. we headed over to Downtown Disney to walk around and hang out on the hotel grounds. the kiddies loved just being somewhere new, new things to see, new places to run. they loved "steering" the remote control boats, see "mickey and minnie",going to the lego store, but best of all...the waterfall! oh how jenalyn loved it - mainly because it was soooo loud and she could yell and scream and be loud too! we ended the day sippin' on jamba juice (eli had H2O) waving good-bye to all the new things we saw that day. "by-bye water, bye-bye tropical birds, bye-bye trees, bye-bye mc mouse..."

the pat on the back for me, you ask??? is it bad to be proud of oneself? well I am! only b/c you see that skirt jenalyn is wearing? Ive always wanted to get her a pettiskirt, but I wasnt about to spend $90-$100 on one...so I decided to make it. after doing much research on how to create this cute twirly thing, in which most of my finding were nothing but stories filled with horror, frustration and a project that can make one go crazy...I decided to take the plunge anyway. and Im glad I did. it wasnt too bad - time consuming: yes, lots of patience needed: yes, super cute: YES! it is by far not perfect, but trust me, Im already devising a plan to practice another one. now I just have to decide what color next...any suggestions?

apple pickin' BUT...

last weekend we went up to the orchards for some apple picking fun, I was so excited I even made jenalyn a apple-y top and hair clippie for the festivities (sorry eli, but that fabric wouldnt have been a good choice for you!), only to find out that the apples ran out! I was so bummed! but we had a good time anyway and we got to see a real pumpkin patch...a little too thorny for my liking, but now we can say we've seen one. (of course we'll pick our pumpkin at the local city "patch".)

maybe next year they'll have a better apple season...til then, enjoy the pics!

at the top! for those keeping track (me included, b/c sometimes even i forget!) and in a month we'll find out if jenalyn and eli will have a baby sister or brother!

my mommy group at the pumpkin patch

earlier this month my mommy group decided to have a nice little get together at a cute little pumpkin patch park. we all had a great time and it was so nice to see everybody since we dont "get together" too often. the first four pics are complements of my friend staci. (thanks staci!) enjoy!

so we tried stickers instead...

since glueing isnt a favored craft - what about good 'ol stickers...

these foam ones were much easier to peel than the flat ones and I just let them go to town...no rhyme or reason, but next time I'll try to find some scenery so the stickers have a purpose...

and after all the stickers were stuck: fort time!

crafting some pumpkins

so I wanted to try "glueing" again. jenalyn really doesnt care for it, but I tried. but she did color the pumpkins and for the most part stayed within the circle. eli was more interested in the glue containers themselves...we'll try again another day.

oh as for the glueing, that was me! except for the stems on the big ones, she did try those...
